The Rebel Farmer...Looking for Trouble?
We got a lot of hits with yesterday's post and even a few donations (thank you! Every bit helps!) but for the most part, everything is going according to plan. We have a definite feel for what we are wanting to do and how we want to do it. We even like to thing that we have inspired a few people and that is great. If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough. The interesting thing is that the things that we are truly worried about, are not the things that a farmer should worry about.
You see, trouble nowadays gets you noticed. Trouble gets you on the news... Been there, done that (More on that later, probably). Sure, we are out to shock some people and we like the idea of the look on people's face when they see the floating farm float by, but when we really think about it, we are out to prove a point AS WELL AS do what we set out to do. Truth be told, it works out for us either way. We are out to change the way people think about where their food comes from and we are going to do it in a fun and interesting way.
Tomorrow, I am going to rise and shine and start construction on the new platform. It is going to be cool. Maybe, one day, when I am desperate for clicks I will take a nude selfie, but until then, let's just grow some food.

Taking a step back, I had to think about what we are going to call ourselves. We are not farmers. I think the better term is "grower" When we think of farmers, we think of people who grow things in dirt, and yes, we are going to be doing that, but that dirt is going to be over water. We are going to be doing a lot more than that too. We are going to be expanding minds, etc. We are answering some big questions and yes, we are making some trouble.
Or are we? I am going to let you in on a little secret and this is just between you and me. I am not sure if I want trouble or not. Me and my rapidly forming crew really just want to do something unique. We want to solve a problem. We can't find land, so we are going to grow on water. It is that simple. This is us, jumping out into one of the last frontiers!
But do you hear it? Is there someone out there who is upset? Are there people out there who are peeved that we have bypassed the system??? No, not really. Is it quiet? Is it too quiet? No.
