Homesteader's Day
We think it should be a national holiday sometimes. A big day when we can celebrate the spirit that went into building the homes that we see around us that have stood for a hundred years. We think there should be a day when we celebrate the people who looked at raw and open land or places deep in thick forests and said, "This is where I am going to live."
As a person, seeking to build your own home, or in various ways carve out your place in the world, you know that it can be hard. The day in and day out things that we need to do to build our own homes or grow our own food or just, in general, create a more sustainable, healthier environment mean that one day just isn't going to do it.
We can take a moment, take a day, and meet one another, exchange tips and tricks for making things easier, and share knowledge and just meet people who have been down the same road you have or help those who are coming behind you.
We are proud to have local vendors and growers come out to set up and you can even see what they have done to start a business or look at what they have to offer.
We are going to have experts to come out and talk to people about what they are doing in the community as well.
We are proud that we have many local sponsors and supporters like Tractor
Supply here in Waynesboro who are anxious to help small groups in the community with projects large and small and provide a great deal of knowledge to back it up.
The Life Center is going to be doing a lot and we love the idea of being able to be the testing ground for so many great projects as we dig deeper in this property. We hope that you will come out and learn with us.
This year is all about beginnings and we are going to bring you information on buying land, building homes, starting gardens and more. There will be music and good food as well. You have to start somewhere and Homesteader's day is the perfect place!
