Starting In Waynesboro...going beyond

Our neighbor likes to tell us stories about how his children and now grandchildren would wake in the morning, saddle up a horse, and he would not see them until the sun was going down. There were creeks fished.  There were trails made.  He even showed us a trove of Native American pottery and arrow heads that they have found over the years.
Sadly, now he is thinking of selling the place.  It is nearly 50 acres of prime land just outside of the little town of Waynesboro, GA.

He has loved this spread, and he has loved the town.  When I first got here, he told me all the people I need to meet and where to go in town for the best cup of coffee.  He is getting older and his kids have found their own success.  Though he remains in the horse business, he can't get out the way he used to.  He and his wife love to watch a good race every now and then.

She is dealing with cancer and she does not move around so well any more.  She sits on the porch and watches the horse he bought for her,  thinks about when she used to ride, and wonders whether she will ever be able to ride again.

We want to help them and others like them. Mainly we want to not only preserve their land but the land that surrounds them and as much as we can leading into town and we hope to Augusta.

We want to create a place where people can take some time to enjoy nature and get healthy.  Good food grown on the property.  Healthy activities day and night on the property. Most recently, a riding trail, a place where people can board their horses and kids can learn to ride.  We are going to make their property the trail head.

In the coming weeks and months we are going to be doing things, holding events, classes, and more to help build this place.  From time to time, we are going to call on you to attend, to support, or even just to spread the word about events and more.

We are starting in Waynesboro, and going beyond.

We hope that you will join us.  Subscribe to our mailing list and keep tabs on what we are doing and how we are doing it.  Contribute where you can and when you can.

Because kids should still be able to spend a day playing and learning in the woods.
Because cancer shouldn't stop people from doing what they love.
Because life is precious.
