Growing the perfect tomato!
This is a post more about vision than it is about actually growing tomatoes. We are looking at things through a long lens and thinking about tomorrow and the next day. As the days get shorter and cooler, we are preparing for the days when we can spend with our family. We are also thinking about the days soon to come when the days will once again be longer and warmer and then hot...
These are the days when we prepare for the perfect tomato that is going to come next year. So right now we are sitting down, thinking about things, but we are also composting, cleaning and saving. On top of that, we are still growing even as others are putting things away and shutting things down...We are still growing.
We have started gathering things for the fall and winter. The current and continuing project is composting. We have sold a lot of produce to local restaurants and people who are really interested in getting some of next years' tomatoes and more. We are starting to see the remnants of our sold produce coming back to us in the form of compostable materials for next year's garden, putting it to good use and keeping it out of landfills.
The next part of our mission is getting spaces set to grow on.
We have found a couple of places in desperate need of a little tender loving care. Not only do the lots need a little TLC, but the communities themselves need a little love.
