Thankful...
This has been a tough week for us here and for some of the families that have been associated with us. We want to start by saying good bye to two of our associates who passed away this week while working for us. They have left a hole in their families' hearts, and we as friends can feel their loss as well.
We took yesterday off and took some time to think about how things were going to move forward and in the break between the accident and the funeral, thought that we need to do what we had planned on doing, what they would have wanted us to do. For us, it asks a larger question of whether we are a business or whether we are a family. Do we do what we do to ensure a bottom line or to change the world. We wrote before about coming together after the storm last week to help a family with some minor repairs, but this is much much larger, isn't it.
Yesterday and today, we did what we could do. We continued to work on chicken tractors and start to work on bee hives. Then we got to work on other things. We are looking at what to plant for the 2016 season, where to plant and how. We are working on the festival they had so strongly invested their time and energy in.
It is hard to think about all the things that I love about what we have created without thinking of all of the bad that comes along with it. I like the idea of people who work for us and with us going on to better things. Yet, now, thinking about them leaving in other ways, I am saddened. Things are in motion again...kinda. You guys will be missed.
